USGenWeb Project| CoGenWeb| CO. Counties | Colorado History| Wish list|

Rootsweb log in

Ancestry log in

Note the only difference is the color

Both will take you to the same message boards, on either Ancestry or Rootsweb. The only difference in the boards is the headers and the colors. All of the messages that were on the old GenConnect boards have been combined with the messages from the Ancestry boards.

This is the Link you need.

It will take you to:

Choose the Locallities Link:

Choose the United States Link:

Choose the States Link:

Choose the Colorado Link:

Choose the Counties Link:

Where you will note "You are not an Administrator on this category" on all of the above.
Then you can choose your county board. If you choose one you are not an amins for you will see the message "You are not an Administrator on this board." next to the county name.

Visitors see your Admins Information from:

Getting Started

Make sure you registered and have a user name and password. You don't need a new one if you already had one. Be sure to use the email address that you used prior to the new message boards. if your email address is different in the ID you are going to use, go to "my profile" and change it first. You register by clicking login and then the new user button/link. If you have already registered with the account that you wish to use, then skip this step.
You will find that you have to make sure you are using the admins url to get to the tools for your boards. If you just go to the public pages login screen you will only be logged in as a visitor. You have to make sure your url has "admin" in it. This will make sure you are viewing the Admins Page.

Note the "Board Administrators
Admins Center"
on the bottom of the admins page.

The Main entry page for the public boards is at:
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=main&r=rw
This is the main admins url for the Rootsweb side of the boards:
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=admin.main&r=rw
This is the main admins url for the Ancestry side of the boards:
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=admin.main&r=an
This will take you to the message board admin center. Once there then you will have to login.

This will take you to the Amins entry page with the link to take you to your boards.

<-- as shown on the left.

You can follow the links on the left or you can copy and paste in the url from your accept message from Rootsweb. Both of which should get to your county with:

next to your county name. If you see this You made it!!
The path to my Larimer County messages looks like:

OK now what?

You can now add a link back to your county page, and add other information for the visitors to your board. You do this by going to this link:

This will take you to the Adoption Status Page Where you can add normal html links and other text in the Description: Box of the form.
Then you click on the Submit button at the bottom of the form. Don't use the test as this still has a bug they are working out.

This should allow visitors to the message board to see a pop up with your added message in it. They have to click on the Admin Info link on the public pages to see your pop up page.
More to come!
