Conejos County is one of the original counties that were formed when Colorado became a State.
Originally called Guadalupe (1861-1875). Located in the south central portion of Colorado in the San
Luis Valley. Conejos County is bounded by
Archuleta County
to the west,
Rio Grande County
to the north,
Alamosa County
to the northeast and Costilla County to the east. Rio Arriba County in
New Mexico
is on the south border of Conejos County.
