Sarah's father was baptized into the LDS church October 1865.  Her mother Rebecca Jane Hooks Dodson, born May 1846 in Hancock County, Illinois, married September 16, 1860 in Beaver City, Utah, was baptized into the RLDS church October 1865 at Council Bluffs, Iowa, and attended the Eustis, Nebraska, branch.  She died January 1911 at Leroy, Logan County, Colorado.

In 1880 Decatur County, Iowa, Thomas is 28, with Alexander Ervin 65 and Sarah A 44 and sister Laura A. 11.

Sarah Dodson's family is also in Decatur County in 1880 - James M. 71, Sarah 72, William 4, Rebecca 34, Sarah C. 19, James M. 16, William T. 13, Joseph A. 6, Sarah C. Reed 31, Aggie Reed 10, Faustina Reed 9, Minnie M. Reed 7, and Nellie R. Reed 3.

Thomas and Sarah C "DOBSON" married July 1, 1880 at Pleasanton, Decatur County.

In 1900 Frontier County, Nebraska, Thomas Ervin, born July 1852 in Illinois, farming, has been married 20 years to Sarah C., born Feb 1861 in Utah.  They have Thomas M. , born May 1881 in California, Grace Jan 1884 Missouri, Sarah C., Dec 1885 Missouri, and Rebecca Nov 1896 in Nebraska.

In 1910 Logan County Thomas is 57, "Sera" C. 49, and Rebecca J. is 13.

The Hoopes Newsletter said that Rebecca Jane Hoopes Dodson was born May 11, 1846 in Golden Point, Adams County, Ill and died Jan 4, 1911 in Leroy, Logan County, Colorado and was buried in Bryant.    Her son Joseph was in Phillips County Colorado in 1910 - and on the same census page was the Tyner household who homesteaded in section 31, 6N 47W - only a couple miles from Thomas' claim, but in Phillips County. Newton Morrison, section 22, 6N 47W was also on the same census page.

Thomas proved up 347 acres in 31, 6N 48W in 1914.

In 1920 Thomas 68 and Sarah C. 58 are in Independence, Missouri -This said he was born in Kentucky, parents U.S. - so it wasn't a reliable listing.

In 1930 Thomas is back in Logan County, widowed, living with daughter Rebecca J., who's married to Richard A. Curtis, and kids Edna 14, Leona 12, Mary Jane 11, and Richard E. 9.

Sarah's father, William Dodson, is buried in the same Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.  He was born Feb 2, 1835 in Kentucky to James M. and Sarah (King) Dodson, and died July 18, 1916 in Independence.

In 1910 Harrison County Iowa, William Dodson, 74, and Rebecca Jane Hoopes, 69 are with his sister Nancy Culow, 65, farmer, and her daughter Lizzie 18.  (Frank Culow, 28, and his family are on the same page, so he is likely a son)

One tree said that Rebecca Hoopes was born May 11, 1845 in Adams County, Illinois to Elisha and Elizabeth Whan Treepe.

The 1850 census of Utah County has Elisha and Elizabeth Hoopes, with Joseph C. 8, and Rebecca 5, and the 1860 census of Beaver County Utah has Wm Dodson 24, Rebecca J. 14, and Elizth Hoops, 58 is living with them.

In 1870 William and Rebecca are in Lincoln County, Missouri, with "Corah" C. 9, James M. 6, William T. 4, and Elizabeth Hoops, 67.  Elizabeth Treep Hoops died Jan 25, 1871, and is buried in Beaver County, Utah, per FindAGrave


In 1920 Arnold R. Curtis and Rebecca J. are in Magee precinct, Yuma County - it might be just a few miles south of their parents' claims.  They have Edna M. 4., Leona M. 2, and Mary J. 1.


 In 1880 Kosciusko County, Indiana, James Stumpff is 27, Eliza 30, with Charley 8, Effie 6, Sarah and Mary 4.

Frontier County records have a Joseph Alma Dodson marring Sarah Alma Stumpff January 16, 1894.

In 1900 Frontier County, Nebraska, Joseph A. Dodson born Feb 1875 in Iowa and Sarah May 1876 Indiana, have Effie June 1895, Nebraska.

In 1910 Phillips County Joseph A. Dodson, 36, born in Iowa is married 16 years to Sarah A. 33, Indiana.  Effie F. 15 was born in Nebraska, and George A. one month in Colorado.

Joseph Alma Dodson, born February 9, 1874, registered with a Hillrose, Morgan County, Colorado address, married to Sarah.

Alva E. Morrison married Lydia E. Howatt July 5, 1914, recorded in Denver, and divorced in 1919 Denver.

That might be a different Alva - Effie Dodson, 20, married Alva Morison 26, August 30, 1914 in Hayes County, Nebraska.

Effie Fay (Dodson) Morrison - June 20, 1894- Sep 15, 1966 and Alva Edwin Morrison -1888-1964 are buried in Akron, Colorado.

Eleanor A. White, 92, of Longmont, died March 17, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1915 in Haxtun, Colo. to Alva Edwin and Effie Fay (Dodson) Morrison. Eleanor was the oldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1990; three brothers, Wilbur, Newton and Eugene Morrison; a sister Louise Ashley, a brother-in-law and a nephew, Clifford Morrison.

March 2, 2006  Alma Louise Morrison was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Hillrose to Alva Edwin and Effie Fay (Dodson) Morrison, the fourth of five children. She attended Akron High School and married Dale Roy Ashley Nov. 7, 1940, in Sterling. They farmed northeast of Akron for 34 years and in 1974 moved into Akron. She and Dale Ashley are buried in Akron.

In 1919 J.A. Dodson petitioned the Washington County commissioners for road work in 4N 53W

In 1920 Platte precinct, Washington County, Colorado, Joseph and Sarah have only George A.

Joseph A. 1874-Jan 19, 1948 and Sarah A. 1876- Feb 21, 1951 Dodson are buried in Brush.

So is their son George A. - Mar 30, 1910 - Dec 29, 1924.

And so are Sarah's parents James - 1851-1932 #74980902 and Eliza 1850-1930.

James 78 and Eliza "Stompff" 80 are in Morgan County Colorado in 1930.  Eliza A. Dany married James A. Stumpff July 16, 1872 in Kosciusko County, Indiana.

She's probably the Elisa Denney in 1860 Kosciusko County (Henny in the 1870 index).  Martin Denny was born about 1817, Sarah 1819, with Harriet 1843, Joseph 1845, Elisa 1950, Sarah J. 1852, Merneva A. 1856, Angeline 1859

Martin Denney is in Frontier County Nebraska in 1900, born Nov 1817 in North Carolina, with Minerva daughter born Dec 1855 in Indaian.

FindAGrave has him buried in the Denny Cemetery, Frontier County 1817-1904.  # 11565387, daughter  Minerva A. dying Oct 21, 1902 and Sarah A. (Monroe) Denney, Nov 20, 1819 - Jan 27, 1892.


Mary L. Dodson proved up a homestead in 30, 7N 48W in 1893 - that's six miles north of Thomas' claim.


W.C. Dodson married Mary Fox March 5, 1894 in Frontier County, Nebraska. "They then moved to Furnas County, Nebraska where they raised their family. William died in 1936, Mary Ellen died in 1925."


Edwin D. Mayo married Effie Stumpff in Frontier County, Nebraska May 28, 1903.


In 1920 Platte precinct, Washington County - same page as Joseph and Sarah Dodson, Emmitt is 32, Effie 33, with Hazel M. 12, Emil L. 11, James L. 3, and Alma L. 1 - last two born in Colorado.

Emmitt 1887-1956 and Effie 1887-1984 Stumpff are buried in Riverside Cemetery, Sterling.
