November 1896 Akron, Colorado (Burdette items)  "It is reported that Mr. Norby, of Leslie, and Sam Stockham have traded farms, and Mr. Norby will now move into our vicinity."

Samuel had cash-claimed a quarter in 30, 5N 50W in 1891, about ten miles west of Gunder's claim.  Leslie - on  the Yuma/Washington County line, could very well have been Gunder Norby's mailing address - or Peter John Norby's


Peter John Norby (this one born in Sweden July 13, 1858) married Christina Wilhemina Nilsson in Saunders County Oct 24, 1888, and one Ancestry tree said they lived in Yuma County in 1892-1896, where two sons were born, Joseph Norby born June 14, 1894 at Yuma Colorado, was working for J.W. Norby in Bancroft, Cuming County, Nebraska when he registered.  Garfield, when he registered, said he was born at "Umah" Colorado.

One descendant wrote "Peter, with his bride Christine, traveled to Colorado to homestead.  He suffered kidney failure and had to give up the farm to return to Oakland where he died..... Christine raised their four fatherless children by taking in washings."

Peter - July 13, 1858 - Dec 27, 1897  "Peter Norby who resided with his parents in the Lundstroms addition died this Tuesday morning after an illness of 8 days. His illness commenced with pneumonia and quickly developed into consumption. The funeral took place Tuesday" Oakland Independent December 24, 1897 

In 1900 Burt County, Nebraska, Chrisine Norbey, born Oct 1863 in Sweden, immigrating in 1888, has Ruth Jan 1890 Nebraska, David Oct 1891 Nebraska, Joseph June 1894 and Garfield Sep 1896, both born in Colorado.

Christine is in Burt County with sons in 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940, dying Sep 28, 1944 , buried in Oakland, Burt County.
