June 1947 "A mother, now recuperating in Denver, has told the story of how she saved the lives of her two small daughters when a flash flood swept through their home. Mrs. Pearl Sable of Cambridge, Nebraska, is pain-ridden with neuritis, pleursy and the effects of five hours spent struggling against the flood which inundated Cambridge before dawn Sunday. It killed at least 10 persons.
Mrs. Sable says she was awakened Sunday to find flood waters from Medicine
creek swirling through the yard. She put a chair on the bed, stood on the
chair and ripped the plastering from the her bare hands, her two daughters,
10-year-old Mary Ellen and 9-year-old Shirley June, through the hole.
But the mother couldn't get through. So she thrust her head and arms
into the attic and clung there, rose higher chair away."

"Louise Rumery age 87 died early Thursday evening April 1st, 2010 at Westward Heights Nursing home, Riverton, Wyoming with family by her side. A Memorial Service will be held Friday April 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home. Her cremated remains will be buried beside her late husband Bob Rumery at the Mountain View Cemetery follwing the service.
