On May 31, 1875, arriving in New York on the Mosel from Bremen, Ferdinand Martnes, age 9. Sophie Martens - age 16 or 11, is next to him.
Hanne Martens, age 18, is also on the ship.
He might be the Ferdinand August Mertens born August 19, 1865 in Rheinland, Prussia to Ferdinand August Mertens and Maria Catharina Hilgers.
He possibly is the one in 1880 Stephenson County, Illinois, age 16, with father John Martins 57, a wooden shoe maker, and Lena 54. - all born in Prussia.
In March 1880, Anna Sophie Martens married Henry Frederick Stukenberg in Stephenson County, Illinois. She died in 1885.
She's buried in Ogle County, Illinois #E 28354156.
That might be another Sophie - age 12, in 1870 Middletown, New York, in 1870.
Ferdinand cash-claimed a quarter in 8N 44W - Phillips County, Colorado in 1890 - about 30 miles east.
Ferdinand proved up a quarter in 24, 8N 49W in 1895.
He might be the Ferdinan Martins in 1900 Boulder County, born August 1864 in Germany, a miner, living alone.
Ferdinand claimed a mineral patent in 1901 in 1N 72W - Boulder County, and another eight acres in 1906.
He might be the Frederick Martin , 46, in Boulder County in 1910, living alone, a miner, immigrating in 1885?
In 1920 Logan County, Ferdinand is single, 55, born in Germany, immigrating in 1875, naturalized 1886.
Ferdinand Martens' inheritance tax was in Logan County court May 23, 1930.
