James Oakley, Fleming

James was born, per one tree, March 4, 1865 in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, Ohio.
It said Ida's father Henry Beach Anderson died July 31, 1917 in Sedgwick County, Kansas, and her mother Anna died January 16, 1930 in Sedgwick County, Kansas.

In 1870 Auglaize County, Thomas A. Oakley is 57, Mary J. 40, Latitia17, Maria C. 15, Susannah 14, Rachel 13, Lucinda A. 10, George E. 9, James C. 5, Martha J. 3, Elizabeth 1.

In 1880 Fremont County, Iowa, Thomas is 67, living with Rachel's family. She's 23, married to Isaac W. Woolsey, 25, and has Wililam B. 2 and Ernest E. 1.

James was in Fremont County, Iowa in 1880, 15, the adopted son of Geroge F. Atkinson 42 - must be an uncle. Eliza is George's wife, 25, with Floyd nine months old.
On the same page is Martha Oakley, 10, the adopted daughter of Jacob 50 and Sarah 48 Thomas.

James cash-claimed a quarter in 26, 8N 49W in 1891.
1892 McCook - James C. Oakley received $20 from the county for board of E. G. Smith.

February 1896 McCook "On motion James C. Oakley is appointed to operate and superintend the poor house of Red Willow county forone year from this date , unless sooner removed by the county commissioners."

1899 McCook, Nebraska "James Oakley threshed 210 bushels of millet seed. "

In 1900 Red Willow County, Nebraska, James born March 1865 married 13 years to Ida G. May 1869 Illinois, have Iva Estella Sept 1888, Harris E. Feb 1890, both born in Colorado. Cora E. May 1892, Glen E. Jan 1895, Hazel O. June 1897, and Grace B. Dec 1899 were born in Nebraska.

October 5, 1900 McCook " S. E. Moore has the contract from the county to keep the poor since James Oakley left. "

1905 McCook "James Oakley of Colwick, Kansas is looking after his farming interests in this vicinity."

In 1920 Lipscomb County Texas, James is operating a restaurant 55, Ida 51, Ronald 12, Grace 20, Florence 16, and Lewis 9.

In 1930 Major County, Oklahoma, James is 65, farming, Ida 60 Lewis M. 19, with a boarder widow, 74.

James 1865-1932 is buried in Major County # 16492821, with Ida J. 3 16492819 - 1869-1948.
(His brother George E. Oakley 1862-1948 is also buried there # 102005603_.)

Sister Rachel's son Ernest E Wolsey died in q1954 in Jasper COunty, Missouri, buried 1954 # 43265532.

Ida was in Major County in 1940, living with Harry Oakley and his wife Hazel M. 44, born in Oklahoma.

James Oakley, born in Lema, Ohio, and Ida Jane Anderson, born in Streeter, Illinois, had Iva Estella on September 19, 1888 at Fleming Colorado.

"Stella" is married to Henry Slough in 1910 Major County, Oklahoma, farming, with Loyd 1 born in Oklahoma.

Iva Slough died November 6, 1950 at Booker, Lipscomb County, Texas, to be buried in Heart Cemetery.
# 46186015 says "Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Full Gospel church of Booker for Mrs. Iva Estella SLOUGH, a resident of Booker for 30 years, who died Monday at her home in Booker. She was 62 years of age.
Rev. Raymond Campbell of Waxahachie, Texas, conducted the final rites. Pallbearers were Merlin HOWARD, Ed LEHMAN, Marvin RUTZ, Billy CAMPBELL, Claude MILLS and Clifford MOUNSEY.
Survivors include the husband, Henry SLOUGH; four sons, Loy of Booker, James of Dawn, Texas, Eugene of Perryton and Leonard of Enid; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel RANDOLPH, Enid and Mrs. Elmer TEETZEN, Booker; and six grandchildren."


Harry Ellis Oakley registered for WWI in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma, born in Colorado Feb 2, 1890, farming, with a wife and child.

In 1930 Major County, Oklahoma, Harry is widowed, 40, with Ida 14 born in Oklahoma.
# 14685664 says Winifred Catherine (Morris) Oakley, dying July 11, 1930 "was born in Major Co OK, the daughter of John Marshall Morris and Adelia Ann Swiger Morris. She married Harry Oakley on September 8, 1926."

Harry registered for WWII with an address of Ringwood, Oklahoma.

He's buried in Major County 1890-1976 # 16492815, sharing a stone with Hazel M. Feb 1 3, 1895-Nov 24, 1982.


In 1920 Major County, Cora E. is 27, born in Nebraska, married to Daniel L. Blue 27 born in Nebraska. They're next to Thomas M. Blue 67 and Annie E 56.

Cora Ethel Blue 1892-1975 is buried in Woods County, Oklahoma # 54347538.


Glen E. Oakley registered for WWI in Ringwood, Oklahoma, born January 7, 1895 at McCook, Nebraska, farming, with a wife.
In 1930 he's in Enid, Oklahoma, working in an oil refinery, 35, wtih Gladys 29 born i Oklahoma. A widowed boarder Don Long 23 and Dorris L. 2 are boarding with them. He's buried in Major County 1895-1960, # 16492813, on a stone with Gladys 1900-1996.


In 1920 Major County, Hazel O., 22 born in Nebraska, is married to Floyd L. Newman 26. They have Lennis 3 and Marvin L. one month> They're next to Cora and Daniel Blue....

Hazel is buried in Major County, # 88570423, dying 1985 in Lawrence County, Missouri. On the same stone is Floyd Leslie Newman 1893-1965.


In 1930 Major COunty, Grace is 30, married to Glenn M. Reed, 28. They have Anel A. 7 and Olive F. 5.

She's buried in Major County # 16492900, 1899-1942.
Arrel Leston Reed, 1923-2016 is buried in Enid, Oklahoma # 157790165 "Arrel was born January 30, 1923 in Ringwood, Oklahoma to Milo Glenn Reed and Grace (Oakley) Reed. He passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK."
