This might be a different William, because Minnie Sharpe was th edaughter of John Sharpe, and she was born in Tonawanda County, New York.

Leta M. Gregory born April 7, 1909 in Colorado, died Sept 9, 1989 in San Francisco. She is recorded as moth Sharp, father Hawkins.
In 1930 Denver, Leta M. is 20, with Tarlton and Ida D. Hawkins. Ida D. is 42, born in Colorado.
Leta and William - a public school teacher - Gregory, both 30, are in Denver in 1940.
They must have done well, because they sailed to France in 1938, So my guess is that after Minnie died, Leta went to live with Aunt Ida, and both Leta and Watson ended up in California.

William L. Sharp cash-claimed a quarter in 9, 8N 49W in 1890.

1919 " Charles Bellamy was killed and Charles Cleary of Fleming, Colorado, was probably fatally injured when a roadster driven by Fred Sharp hit a ditch and overturned near Haxtun. The latter was only slightly scratched. Bellamy's chest was crushed and his head nearly severed from his body. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but lived only an hour.
