July 1908 "George W. Guest, postmaster at East Sparta, died on a Thursday from heart disease. He was only 38 years old and the son of Washington Guest of Pike Township. His father was considered one of the most highly respected citizens in the county, and George had been the postmaster for a year. "
Sparta "The funeral.,.. was held Saturday forenoon at the Christian Church, conducted by Revs. Keyser, Herron and Myrick. Interment in cemetery at this place immediately thereafter. A great many friends and relatives attended the services."

Washington Guest's grandparents came to Stark County in 1812. Washington married Ellen Collins in 1845, and they had eight children - Osborn P., Martha, Olive, Cora, Elmer, Katie A., George W. and Ida.
