Here is the obituary from the Norfolk Sunday News, Norfolk, Nebraska, dated 24 April 1892:
Mrs. Catherine Schwertfeger, mother of Ernst Schwertfeger and Mrs. F. Pasewalk, of this city, died at the home of the latter at 12:35 this morning from the general debility incident to old age. Deceased was born February 14, 1808 in Schreitstaken, near Coslin, Germany. She came to America eighteen years ago and located in Norfolk, her husband having died previous to her emigration. Besides the two named above, her surviving children are Mary Schwertfeger, Mrs. Wm. Zutz, August Shoemaker and Herman Shoemaker. The funeral will take place from F. Pasewalk's residence at 3 o'clock tomorrow, the services being conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran church by Rev. M.H. Pankow.

One Ancestry tree said Ernest died in 1893, and is buried in Saint Paul Cemetery, Madison County.

In 1900 Norfolk Amelia, born January 1849 in Wisconsin, is widowed, eight kids, three living.  William Nov 1874, Max Oct 1887, and Arthur June 1890 all born in Nebraska, with daughter-in-law Lizzie July 1875 Nebraska.  They've been married one year.

In 1910 Norfolk, Nebraska, Amelia is 60, born in Wisconsin, widowed, with sons Max 24 an engineer and Arthur 20 a driver for a grocery, both born in Nebraska.

In 1914 Norfolk, Emila Schwertfeger (widow of Ernest R.) lives at 120 Norfolk Avenue.

In 1920 Amelia is in the insane hospital in Norfolk.

Max and William are both in Norfolk in 1920 and 1930, married with kids.


In 1870 Whiteside County, Illinois, Augst Schwertfegar is 31, Burtie 21, with Lena nine months.

In 1880 Whiteside County, Illinois, August Schwertfeger is 42, Bertha 30, Lena 10, Paul 9, Arthur 8, Olga 6, William 4, and Gustaf 2.

"Heirs of Ernst"  proved up  a quarter in 21, 6N 50W in 1904.

One Ancestry tree said Ernest "Schwerdtfeger" born 1820, died 1899, married Johannah Krukow, and had Caroline 1844-1906.

August Benhardt SCHWERTFEGER   was born on 17 Oct 1836 in  Germany. He died on 23 Dec 1916 in Mountain, Barry, Missouri. He married Bertha Fredericka KOPISCH. 
Bertha Fredericka KOPISCH   was born on 25 Oct 1849 in Neustettin, Pomerania , Germany. She died on 17 Dec 1943 in Logan, Christian, Missouri. She married August Benhardt SCHWERTFEGER.

1899 Sterling "August Schwertfeger returned this morning from a business trip to Boone, Iowa."

Might be related to August Schwertfeger, who's in Atwood precinct, Logan County in 1900, 63, with Bertha 50.  Thy have William J. 24, Gustave T. 22, Benhard A. 18, Edith C. 16, Emma M. 13, and Edward A. 8.

August Schwertfeger, born Oct 17, 1836 in Germany - father William Schwertfeger - died Dec 23, 1916 in Marionville, Missouri, buried in Marionville Dec 26, informant William J. Schwertfeger of Marionville.

Bertha Kopisch "Swertfiger" "born Oct 25, 1849 in Stettin, Germany, to William Kopish, died in Fairgrove, Christian County Missouri Dec 17, 1943, buried in Marionville.  Wm. J. Swertfiger of Marionville was the informant.

William Schwertfeger married Kate Leitzbach July 26,1900, recorded in Logan County.

Gustave Schwertfeger married Anna Leitzbach Dec 19, 1900, recorded in Logan County.

Paul G. Schwertfeger dying 1899 at age 28, and Carl J.G. Schwertfeger died 1890 age four months share a tombstone in Sterling.

A,F. Swertfeger, 51 married Ethyl Vanderkarr, 44, in Sterling October 17, 1925., the ceremony performed by judge H.L. Hinkley.

In 1900 Logan County, following August, is Arthur Schwertfiger, born Nov 1872 in Illinois, married three years to ANnie May 1875 Iowa.  They have Ollie March 1898 in Iowa and Harold May 1899 in Colorado.

Harold Cris Swertjeger, born in Sterling about 1900 to Arthur Emil and Anna Schwene Swertjeger,  married Gladys Miranda Harville, born about 1906 in Prince George County, Virginia February 21, 1933.

Albert Steinhardt cash-claimed a  quarter in 21, 6N 50W in 1893, timber-claimed one in 14, 6N 50W in 1900, and proved up a quarter in 21, 6N 50W in 1901.

In 1900 Leroy precinct, Logan County, Albert born Oct 1842, has been married 24 years to Caroline Spet 1844, both in Germany.  Charles Sept 1877 and August born March 1882 in Germany, and Otto May 1885 in Iowa. 

Chas F. Steinhardt married Lucy V. Dunbar Aug 23, 1911, recorded in Logan County.    Charles Fredrick Steinhardt  registered in Riverside County California born Sept 2, 1876, married to Lucy Viola.

They're in Riverside County, California in 1920, farming, with three kids.  Charles F. 1876-1961 # 133939080 and Lucy V. 1873-1967 are buried in Medford Oregon.

Caroline (Schwertfeger) Steinhardt 1844-1906  is buried in Leroy, with Albert Steinhardt 1844-1906.

Ernest H. Steinhardt proved up a quarter in 19, 6N 50W in 1906.
