About Otero County GenWeb

Greetings and welcome to Otero County Colorado GenWeb!

My name is Kristina Corey Fuiks and I am your volunteer coordinator for this website officially as of August 27, 2007. I have a few goals in mind for this site for now until the end of the year and I would like to share them with you.

Housekeeping: I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into the creation and maintenance of a website. At this time, Otero County Colorado GenWeb could do with a little organization and some cosmetic changes to reflect my personality. My goal is to reduce clutter and get you to the information you need in a few clicks.

Preservation: Many people have contributed to the Otero County Colorado GenWeb since its inception in 1996. While some information has moved on to other locations, my goal is to preserve the information that was left to me here and continue to make it available to other researchers such as myself.

Query Services: At this time, I have access to a wealth of information at the Denver Public Library to assist in doing moderate lookup requests. By the end of the year, I would like to be on a regular schedule for what kinds of lookups that I can perform and when to expect them. Please keep checking back for more information about this.

Expansion: Over time, I would like to add additional free resources for the Colorado GenWeb community to use. This will include information for Otero County Colorado GenWeb as well as other Colorado counties such as Pueblo, Huerfano and Crowley. In addition to maintaining this web presence, I am an active genealogical researcher myself and would be glad to share any information that I have come across with you.
