We are men and women, from many walks of life, and many
age groups... From older teens to well into retirement age,
students to career professionals, some with families to care
for, or businesses run from home ..... who want to bring
useful, accurate information to the Colorado GenWeb site.
Some of us are computer techs, some of us are just learning
as we go, and all enjoy being a part of a great
organization, and doing work we believe is important and
meaningful.
Where Are We? Some live in the County they are coordinating,
some don't! Some don't even live in Colorado. Some live in
other countries, like Australia, Scotland....just to name a
couple. (Yep, it's the magic of the Internet!). Most
have ties to Colorado. However, there are a few that have no
ancestors in Colorado, but an interest in the state and its
history.
Why Do We Volunteer? From the National Coordinators, to the
State Coordinators, to the County Coordinators, none receive
a paycheck. They are not reimbursed for costs. Each
volunteer pays for and maintains his/her own hardware,
software, and Internet Service Provider. Some volunteers
work behind the scenes submitting information to the
Archives or the County pages. Some actually provide the
information from their own data files.
All the volunteers give freely of their time and efforts to
collect information and make it available to those searching
for their family roots.

Alamosa
County - - Scott Scheibe.
Hi, I'm Scott Scheibe, I know Alamosa, Conejos and Rio
Grande counties, Colorado and most of the rest of the San
Luis Valley where they are located, fairly well. My
father's family is from Conejos and my mother's is from
Alamosa and Rio Grande counties. I grew up in La Jara
which is in Conejos Co. I now live in Phoenix, Arizona.
When I found the Alamosa pages were up for adoption I
felt I had to volunteer to be the County Coordinator.
Later, when Rio Grande, Costilla, Mineral became available, and Saguache I adopted them as well.
I am also the webmaster of this the CoGenWeb site. If you need any help with problems with your site I will try to help.
I have lived in Phoenix since 1986. I am pretty much
the family historian. I've been collecting the genealogy
work of my relatives, which is substantial, and gathering
it into one database for several years. I'm LDS, so
family history is sort of a natural interest for me.
Please visit my home page to learn more about me. I have
my genealogy up there and the Descendants of Capt. Henry Woodward site.

20 years Navy, 5 years US Forest Service, and 20 Years US

Archuleta County, 15 miles west of Pagosa Springs,
Colorado. We have raised three daughters, and have four
grand children. I have an associate degree in electrical
engineering and have worked with commercial computers
since the 1960's and personal computers since the 1980's.
I have been doing genealogy off and on for the past
thirty years, mainly as my wife's assistant. I spend 1 to
2 days a week volunteering at the local museum and the
remainder of my time is taken up managing some commercial
pages on the Internet and working around the
house.

Clear Creek
County - - DON STANWYCK
Don Stanwyck coordinates the Clear Creek and Gilpin County websites. He has at
various times also coordinated Adams, Broomfield, and Crowley County
pages. Don lives in the Seattle area and works in the software
industry, flies for Angel Flight (www.angelflight.org), and helps his
wife run their farm.
Don became interested in genealogy when he bought a
genealogy program for his mother-in-law as a gift one
Christmas. Next thing he knew he was 5000 ancestors
deep!
Don initially adopted Clear Creek and Gilpin counties
several years ago (1996?). One of his gg-grandfathers
settled in Empire (Clear Creek County) in 1860, and lived
in Colorado off and on until he died in 1919. Another
gg-grandfather settled in Erie (Weld County) about 1880
and was a very early mayor of the town. The families met
in Greeley, Don's g-grandparents married in Denver, lived
in Colorado Springs until 1910, and then moved to
California. Jody, Don's wife, had her family arrive in
Colorado a short time later, living first in the Fort
Lupton area (Weld County), then moving up to Empire, and
finally settling in the Dumont - Idaho Springs area (all
Clear Creek County) until just a few years ago. They
didn't realize their ancestors had crossed paths locally
until they started doing genealogy.

Delta
County - - BETTY BAKER.
My name is Betty Baker. I am the County Coordinator for several Colorado
counties*. I live just outside of Houston, Texas with my husband. Western
Colorado has always held a special magic for me. My grandparents were some
of the original settlers in Delta and Mesa Counties. My mom went to school
at Pea Green, back when it was just a one room schoolhouse. My favorite
times growing up were the visits to grandmas 3 or 4 times a year.
I've been a professional web application developer since the early 1990s. I
have a degree in Computer Science and Marketing from Oklahoma State
University, as well as a degree in Accounting from Northwestern University
also in Oklahoma. I picked up a love of quilting from my grandmother and
both great-grandmothers (it skipped my mom's generation!). I also have a
home business doing professional long-arm machine quilting for others.
* Delta, Delores, Gunnison, Montrose and Mesa Counties and the Colorado
Military Project. Past Webmaster for the Colorado Tombstone Transcription
Project and COGenWeb Project Archives.

El Paso
County - - Sundee Anderson Maynez,S.C. and
Sundee: I am the State Coordinator for COGenWeb. I am
the coordinator for El Paso County, and previously
Washington County. I came to Colorado Springs, Colorado
in 1997. Previously I lived in Tucson, Arizona which is
what I consider to be my home. I attended part of my
elementary years there and then High School later and
college.
I was born Fort Walton Beach, Florida and have lived in
Albuquerque, NM; Tucson, AZ; Waianae, HI (Oahu);
Monterey, California; Simi Valley, CA; Wiesbaden/Mainz,
Germany; Stromberg-Schindeldorf, Germany; Bad Krueznach,
Germany. I have family in Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida,
Arizona, Germany, Colorado, Arkansas, California and
Georgia. I have 2 brothers (half) and 2 sisters (half). 2
sons, a 4 year old (born 1995) and 1 year old (born
1999). I am married, my husband is from Oxnard, CA and I
met him here in Colorado.
I have been doing genealogy since I was 14 years old. My
ancestors are from Germany, Puerto Rico, and England.
Then from those places they have been in Alabama,
Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia,
Indiana, Pennsylvania and who knows where else so
far!
Once I got Internet access, Oh wow!!! I found so much and
received so much. So I decided to volunteer to help back.
I chose what was available which was Washington Co. and
then I took Adams County next. Then lastly Amber had to
give up El Paso County and since I live in El Paso County
I felt I would be a good choice for it. I have been
trying to research my husband's family but boy oh boy! I
am not good at research in Mexico.
Other projects I have taken on are Archives Census State
Coordinator for Arizona, Alabama, Florida, and South
Carolina. I also do File Management for the Archives
Census Project and I am a County Coordinator for Stark
County, Ohio.
Thank you all the wonderful people who have helped me and
who have donated to make the counties I host more
beneficial for others!

coordinator for Saquache County. Even though I do not
live in the San Luis Valley I feel very connected to
it.
I was born in Ann Arbor, MI and have lived all over
Oakland County, MI. Mainly in Rochester, where I went to
high school. I have lived in MI, FL, AZ and CO. I must
say that I really love Colorado and it would take
something major to get me out of Colorado.
I am a homemaker and a mother of 5 children all 6 yrs old

I moved to Denver when I was ten years old and
have been an immovable object every since. I became
interested in genealogy when a friend found her ancestral
home in Germany fifteen years ago. I am also an avid
history buff and spend many hours working on my computer
with "The History Channel" playing in the background. I
have four counties in Colorado that I host and also a
personal site called Ghostseekers that I host, which
contains transcribed records for various Colorado
Counties. You might check it out as there are transcribed
cemeteries, lists of early residents culled from local
history books, transitional maps of Colorado, and
whatever strikes my fancy.

I am the county coordinator for Washington and Yuma County. I am a fifth
generation resident of Yuma County. My maternal great-great grandfather
homesteaded in Yuma County in the 1880s. My fraternal great grandfather
homesteaded here in the 1890s. My wife's family was also among the
original county homesteaders. After a 27 year career in the Army, we
retired in Yuma County to be near our families and return to our roots.
Our family interest in history and genealogy dates from our grandparents
research into their roots. We are simply continuing the work that they
started. I volunteered to host the Yuma and Washington County COGenWeb
Project pages to assist others in looking for their roots.
I host the Northeastern Colorado Mailing List and Colorado Places by
